Sleepy Peas

Are peas a secret sleeping pill? Why don't you ask my little bear...

It was basically the cutest thing I've ever seen. She ate a pea, dropped her eyes, adjusted her head a couple of times and she was out for the count. Even moving her to her bed didn't make her stir. Did I mention that I adore her?

That Cute Little Girl

What do I blog about? Claire. Here is some more of her. She had her 9 month check up a couple days ago and things look just swell!

Weight: 19.7 lbs - 64th %
Height: 27 in. - 33rd %
Head: 45.5 cm - 89th %

She went way down in her weight percentile. I guess that's what crawling does to you right? Oh, and wiggling non-stop everyday. I still cannot believe how fast the last 9 months have gone! My goodness. She should still be rolling around, not almost walking! She is such a ham and I love every minute with her! She has recently discovered that she can breathe through her nose, but makes the funniest scrunch face to do it. She is getting to more teeth on the top, and she is standing all the time without help. Walking is just around the corner!

Easter was kind of a drag this year. Not that it was bad, it was just insanely busy. I had to take Claire to church by myself, which normally wouldn't have been a big deal, but I had to teach Sharing Time and Brian usually takes her. Poor Martha had to hold her while she screamed all through my first lesson. Brian was gone to the airport to get his brother who is coming to take some classes at BYU for the Spring. It's been really fun to have him here! I wish I could always have someone here to take out my trash and play with Claire! :) Then it was off to the grandparents house for dessert where we didn't leave until 11. It was fun, but SOOOOOOO HOT inside and Claire was getting so tired and ornery. Here are at least some cute pictures of her in her Easter dress.

Uh....am I in trouble?

Grandmas are the best!

Diane came to visit last week for one day. Yes, one day. Too short of a visit, but Claire fell in love. She had so much fun with Grandma Anderson! She was such a show off all day and played make believe. How? Well, she was too good. She barely cried, slept when she was supposed to, went to grandma right off, talked like normal (usually she's shy around anyone but us), snuggled with her (which is a big deal), and was just an all around good girl. I kept telling Diane that this wasn't normal life, but I enjoyed her being so good! We went shopping, we had yummy lunches and dinner, we looked at apartments for my brother in law, we just had fun. Since she was only here for less than 24 hours, we didn't get to do a lot, but we're excited for the next visit whenever that may be.

When I took Diane to the airport on Wednesday, we met my mom in Salt Lake and decided to go to the Beehive House. I think it's such a good place! The hallways are so small, but it is just gorgeous. The sister missionary who was mainly in charge basically drove me crazy. Sorry to say, but she did. She rushed us through in about 15 minutes, left us behind because we wanted to take pictures and actually look in the rooms. If I would have been an out of state person and there for the first time, I would have been upset. She just looked annoyed that she had to give tours. Whatever. We had a good time. We ate a cookie at the Lion House Pantry and then had the yummiest wheat turkey sandwich I've ever had at the Nauvoo Cafe. Yum! It was such a good two days.

Love her eyes in this photo!

Is it lying?

My scale decided to be really nice to me today. What? Does that ever happen? For the majority of my life, I've never used a scale. It's just too easy to become preoccupied with weight and I don't believe in stewing over it because it makes me have a negative opinion of myself. After I had Claire I decided to get one just to see when I got under my pre-pregnancy weight. That didn't take very long and I actually got down to my pre-marriage weight in a couple months. I just check now and then just to make sure the numbers aren't going up. I'm not too concerned with making them go down, just as long as they don't go up.

Now, I don't relate the numbers going up as "ugh, I'm gaining weight. Stupid." I just think of it more as a need to be more healthy. So lately, I just feel icky. I'm not even gaining weight, just icky feeling. I'm ADDICTED to sweet things. I think about them all the time and it takes a lot of energy not to give in. They taste icky even when I eat them. So, here is my goal. I want Claire to eat healthy foods, but I can't do that unless I am eating healthy foods too. I have been eating clementine's like crazy and I'm trying to eat fruits as snacks and not eat before bedtime. Let's be honest, it's what I should be doing anyway. I decided long ago that if carbs are the deciding factor between being skinny and being what I am now, I'd rather be what I am now. I love carbs and I don't think it's worth cutting just to go down in weight. I LOVE bread. I ate bell peppers and broccoli until I liked them. I used to hate them and run away when served, but I LOVE broccoli now....still getting used to the peppers though because I have to have them less crunchy. I'm going to try and force myself to eat new fruits and veggies until I like them. It's like training a 5 year old, I know.

Anyway, I'm two pounds away from weighing less than Brian. Haha. That would be the day, right? Maybe if my metabolism was like his.... Haha. Not that I really care, but I liked seeing a lower number for that second. :)

New Haircut

My aunt would call this a "Duck Butt" haircut. That's ok. I like it. I think it's so much fun! I love that it's short again and is SOOO easy to do! It, of course, didn't turn out as cute as when my hairdresser did it, but I'll get the hang of curling it again. It looks cute not curled too, but I had to experiment of course.

The back. This would be the "duck butt" part.

Anyway, I like it. Brian says it makes me look older and refined. I can take the refined part, but I don't know if I want to look too much older. :)

Day 5: Belle

Yesterday was the last day of princesses for the week. We had a fun time being Belle for the day, but didn't do a ton because we were busy. We wanted to go to the library at 10 am for their reading time, but Claire was super ornery, so we didn't make it. Much to my dismay, she didn't even take a nap. Ugh. So, we decided to go around noon. In 5 minutes, the time it takes to get to the library, Claire fell asleep in the car.

Hm...to go in or to let her sleep. I decided to go in and check a couple books out to read them later. Even getting her out of the car didn't wake her up. Good! I went in, found a couple books, and then she woke up looking for the little boy making a scene in front of his dad. She loves little kids and guess she can hear them in her dreams. So, we read the Princess and the Pea and a fishy book.

Then it was time for our lunch date with Prince Charming. Dominos. His favorite. Brian, I guess, could resemble the beast in his pizza eating. He can eat an entire pizza by himself sometimes. We had a fun lunch date.

Of course Claire doesn't eat pizza, so the napkins were more fun.

Belle also feeds the birds with beast, so we fed the ducks. Claire liked the bread better than the ducks. Haha. Silly girl.

We had a fun princess week! Next week is Picnic at a park week. We'll chose a different park each day and each lunch there. Of course this is a weather permitting activity. If it's bad, we'll have to think of something else.
