Let's Go, Stars!

Have I mentioned how much I love free sporting events? Well, thank you Brian's work because we LOVE THEM! We are really starting to really like Hockey games almost as much as we love going to Mav's games.....almost. You know how it is with hockey, you wait and wait for a goal so when they actually get one it is the most exciting thing on the earth at that moment! Both kids were a little fidgety and restless at times, but they watched the game (as long as they had suckers) and cheered loudly when we scored. Claire loves to say, "Dallas, Stars!" as their chant goes, and interchanges it with "Let's go, Mavs!" Jared got really into the goals and pumped his arms all over the place. This is probably our last sporting event as a family for quite a while, so we're glad we got to go. :)

Baby Hailey...No, Not Here Yet

For all of you crazies who have asked me to post maternity pictures, here you go. You get four. My face appears only once throughout this series of weird self-taken pictures because I got a terrible haircut that I don't want documented and my face is getting pudgy. Call me vain...it's ok. I'm so done with being pregnant. :) These are the only pictures I have taken this time around and I'm starting to think my days with maternity pictures are over. There's nothing more unattractive than a picture of 25 lbs hanging off of your stomach....in my opinion.

On the flip side....I got to play with my timer remote on my camera and it was fun. That's also a partial reason there are no facial shots. I kept cutting off my head because it was hard to position the camera correctly. I need LOTS of practice with my 50mm and tripod.

Getting Close!

So, it's March. Okay.....this is weird. March is the month of birthdays. Seriously, EVERYONE's birthday is in March. I know of three people on the 16th, three people on the 19th, two on the 20th, uncle on the 30th....and a few scattered in between those cracks. When celebrating everyone's birthday, it's getting a little hard for me to imagine that I will be having a baby on one of these days. Not just a little hard to imagine.....VERY hard to imagine.

Let's look back. With Claire I was so ready. It was July and I was hot. I was also very huge. Time went slower than normal as I'm convinced every first pregnancy does. The day she was born was long awaited and very...planned.

Fast forward to Jared. I was a little more preoccupied with one 20 month old toddler at home, but still not too busy to wish that baby out ASAP! Claire needed a friend and I was anxious for the day I got to meet that little boy I had such a hard time "connecting" with. My hormones were CRAZY with Jared....to the point that I was probably clinically psychotic...and I was craving some normalcy within my already insane brain.

Hailey, oh sweet Hailey. We are 10 days away from, what I call, due date #1. According to my calculations (and trust me....my body is VERY accurate) I should be due on March 20th. Jared's birthday. Doctor says March 30th. I'm hoping that the stars align to have her right in between. In fact, 5 days late would be perfect! So, by the hoping stars, we could be a family of 5 in just 15 days. A FAMILY OF FIVE! FIVE! This is very surreal to me almost to the point that it can't possibly be real. I have no grasp that this baby will ever venture out of my stomach, although I'm incredibly grateful I won't have to "fatty grunt" every time I bend over to pick something up. I will also be grateful when Claire stops commenting on my "really big tummy". I just bought newborn diapers today (better late than never) and that always gets me excited, but my emotions are so short lived and swallowed in loads of laundry and unwashed walls.

Let's go back to five days late. WHY??? People think I'm crazy. Reason number one: I do not want my children to share a birthday. 5 days apart is at least enough time to have one birthday each weekend. Yeah....We can deal with that. Reason number two: I really REALLY want to make Jared a Lightning McQueen cake and I won't be able to do that in the hospital or on postpartum "rest".

So, cheers to the last few days/weeks of being just the four of us. We're excited....when our thoughts remind us to be...and we all can't wait to be smitten by a newborn! :)
