Vacation Update

Brian and I just got back from our one week long vacation in Park City. It was wonderful! VERY different from last year, but great nonetheless. Brian's parents let us use their timeshare again. We keep telling them that we'll never get a timeshare, but we sure love using theirs!!! So, last year we hung out by the pool, soaked up the sun, went mountain biking, did the Alpine slide and coasters, shopped, shopped, and did some more shopping. This year....Sun? Where was the sun? Sad. We didn't even get to swim and of course I couldn't go hot tubbing because of the baby, so I put my legs in while Brian enjoyed it. We couldn't go mountain biking, and we're having a little thing called Claire, so we couldn't go shopping, shopping, and more shopping again. We did go to the outlets for fun and "tried" to shop, but everything I put on didn't look good with a pregnant belly, so it was easy not to buy anything. I did find some ADORABLE outfits for our little girl for super super cheap though. Oh dear.....I'm doing the mom thing. I'm going to look like crap while my children are well dressed (no offense to mom's that do this, but I know that my mom did this for years. Haha. "Mom jeans" anyone?). :) Our friends, Jason and Kayli came up for the weekend with us and, I don't know about them, but we had a blast with them just relaxing and hanging out. They probably think we're super boring, but we sure enjoy chatting with them for hours. Kayli and I saw Letters to Juliet while we were there.....SOOOOO CUTE!!! We loved it even though we were laughing at the end because of the ridiculous writing. You know, the kind that you're so embarrassed to hear, but secretly wish it was said to you. Yeah...that kind. :) They also made the BEST steak ever for us on Sunday, so we'll be attending their family dinners more often now. :)

After Jason and Kayli left, our vacation turned into an animal-cation. We watched HOURS of Animal Planet (sadly, we both find it interesting). Brian loves animals. Loves to talk about them, watch them, buy them...you name it, he loves it. We did play some games too, but there's not much to do in Park City....scratch that.....on any vacation if you're not going to spend some kind of moolah. We were happy just relaxing inside (especially since it was like 40 degrees all week up there). Anyway, about our animal-cation. We ended up going to the Hogle Zoo and these are the only pictures we took then entire week. We also went to The Living Planet Aquarium and then to Ikea to find a fish stand (aka...a cheap desk) so that Brian can have a new pet. See what I mean, animal vacation.

LOOK HOW CUTE!!!!!! Little elephants are the most adorable thing!

This is an elephant skull. It's almost as big as my upper body. Huge!

Oh, and of course Brian slept in WAAAAYYYY later than I did everyday. So this is what he would be doing all morning while I made breakfast....then lunch, picked up, went to the fitness center, showered and got ready. Sometimes I wish I could sleep until 11. Sadly, that will never happen.

Happy Week

So, for some reason I'm just excited this week, so I'm calling it Happy Week. :) First, we are going to Park City for a whole week again and I'm SOOOOOO excited. I NEED a vacation and a week off work! Second, it's happy week because I bought a stroller for $5. Yup! Five buckaroonies!!! It was awfully dirty when I got it, so I took the entire thing apart, washed all the fabric pieces and then gave the frame a bath. Now it's clean and wonderful. Best of all it was FIVE DOLLARS! I love getting a good deal. There is nothing wrong with the stroller at all, she just didn't want it anymore. It doesn't match my car seat, but who cares. It was cheap. Since they're both Graco, I can use my car seat with it too. :) Yay for cheap things!

Third thing of happy week was that we FINALLY planted our garden. I should have done starts inside weeks ago, but I don't have any windows that I could have placed them by. Oh well, we'll see if it grows. We're using our TINY "plot" of land outside of our apartment by our patio. I'll be sooo excited if we actually get something to grow! Last year we did a potted garden since we lived upstairs and had no dirt, and it did pretty well.

This is our one tomato plant that we got for Mother's Day at church. At least I'll have one plant give me food. :)

These are my daisies/forget-me-not flowers! I LOVE LOVE LOVE daisies and I'm so happy that they're growing and I can't wait until they bloom! :) Happy week. :)

Adopt a Stranger

So, I have to tell you this story. I just sold my keyboard on Saturday to this wonderful man named Jordan. He is a gem. I get this call from him on Saturday morning and he proceeds to tell me his life story. He's 62 years old, just lost his wife to a terminal illness, had to sell his 6' Grand piano to help pay for her funeral, has Agent Orange from Vietnam, doesn't have a lot of money because his first wife is giving him problems, he's taking independent study classes at BYU to keep him busy and he would like a piano of some sort to get some music back in the house. Yes, he told me all of this while I was on the phone with me. So, he tells me that he wants my piano, but he has to run to the bank first to get the cash and asks if we can deliver the keyboard to him.

Ok, so maybe this sounds sketchy to some of you. My brother totally thought he was a fake, but I didn't really have a bad feeling about it, so we just ran with it. Of course I made Brian go with me because I'm not stupid....and this guy, Jordan, also told me that I was not allowed to carry anything because I'm pregnant. :)

Anyway, so we get to this guys apartment and wait for him to get home from the store. He gets there about 5 minutes later, steps out of this car- huge Polynesian guy that totally does NOT look like he's 62 years old other than his slightly graying hair. He grabs 4 grocery bags out of his car and starts walking to his apartment. At first we were thinking, "This guy totally doesn't live up to his story" and then he walked up his stairs and we thought he was going to die. He refused to let me help him with his groceries....but I really didn't think he'd make it. Every step took huge puffs of air to survive and he looked as if he was going to pass out on each one. He only had like 12 steps to go up, they weren't anything super hard or anything. So, he finally makes it into his apartment sits in the one chair that he owns and immediately gets back on oxygen. I felt sooo bad for him! You know when you meet someone and you just want to give them a big hug and say, "I love you, so come to my house for Christmas!" Well, that's how I felt about this man. He huffed and puffed his oxygen tubes the entire time we were there. We set up the keyboard for him and told him that we would only take $100.00 for it instead of what we were asking. He insisted that we take $120.00 since we delivered it (a whole 6 blocks away from our house....that was a huge inconvenience...let me tell ya) and that if that wasn't a good excuse he told us to take the money as a baby present. My refusals didn't do anything for me and he made me take what he was giving. So, yes I believe his story and yes, I think he is a gem. I want to adopt this strange man and make him milk and cookies as he plays my keyboard. I love him.
