Therapist(s)

My therapist's name is Joann. She is lovely. At the end of a long day, a trip to see her is really a sight for sore eyes. Today, at my visit, she supplied me with on sale baby flannel prints and super on sale flannel solids.

When I came hope, therapy number 2 began. This time, his name is baby lock. I bought a new bobbin casing for this little lovely and he's been so good to me ever since. I did some very mindless receiving blanket sewing...much needed. Something mindless which produces something useful and cute? Count me in.

Thank you my dear therapy sessions. Who needs someone to talk to when some good sewing does the trick? Ok...sometimes I do, but today I needed to not talk to anyone and have my head forget all of the crushed cheerios, bread making, sandy feet/clothes/hair, mountains of toys on the floor, you name it.

It's been a lovely, mindless evening.

Sometimes...

Here is what I learned today.

Sometimes things in your life don't always go as you want them to. Sometimes you get pregnancy pimples...something that I've never been very fond of. Sometimes it's right in the middle of your face and ruins the whole work of "art". It just so happens that they appear the week before family pictures are taken and the next week will be non-stop praying for it to disappear.

Sometimes your house doesn't stay clean for more than a day. Sometimes your husband thinks you're crazy for trying to achieve maximum cleanliness 24/7. Sometimes the dishes don't get done on the weekend.

Sometimes your husband steps on the scale and it reads 132 pounds. Your heart sinks deep into your chocolate filled thighs and you begin to wonder if any amount of time at the gym will allow you to somehow make the scale read less than that without breaking it first. Post pregnancy of course. Sometimes you realize you have a lot of work to do.

And sometimes, during the day, you sit in a salon and have your haircut and all of those things just don't matter anymore. That's right. A haircut makes all of the things in the world better. So guess what ugly pimple on my face, I don't care about you because my hair is short and I had my head massaged with eucalyptus oil today. I don't care about the beans thrown on the floor and I definitely could care less about Brian's number on the scale. After all...I did lose 5 pounds of hair today, right? In all seriousness....I'm serious. Having my haircut is like being in heaven for an hour. Woman heaven. After 4 months of waiting for this day, it has been splendid and it has made my life a happier place to be.

Here, Have A Potato

Yesterday there must have been something in the air. It was a hard/boring mommy day for more than just me. My exhaustion set in about 11 am. There was nothing to do. Nowhere I could go. Nothing was coming to my mind of how to be a fun person.

Despite all of that, at the end of the "oh so hard day" I was only to report good things that happened to Brian. It didn't sound like such a trying day and I'm grateful for that because it must have been pretty darn good besides my attitude. Hmmm...maybe I'm learning something here...

In the middle of lunch time, my dear friend Lindsey called. I've been wanting to have a good chat for a few days even if I did just have one a few days ago. It was a blessing. Right after that Rachel called for some more good girl chat. We even have the promise of a girl's night watching and laughing at Breaking Dawn. What could be better? I even got a lovely call from Bethany living in China whom I haven't talked to in months. So wonderful.

Then, Claire had her friend Kylie over to play and had a blast. Kylie always has a little bit of a hard time when mommy leaves, so what did Claire do as Kylie was looking out the window feeling a little abandoned? She ran to the kitchen, banged on the dishwasher, laughed, and then brought out a potato and "gave" it to Kylie. They both laughed and the playing began. How simple and adorable.

I hope we all can give or get a potato today. :)

Best part of my Monday
